There are four services, and the right starting point depends on one question: when a customer in your town needs your trade, do they search, or do they ask someone? In Winnipeg, the answer leans towards search. In Steinbach, Winkler or Thompson, it is often both, and the person they ask usually checks your Google reviews before calling. The sections below explain each service and when it should come first.
-
Local search and Google Business Profile
Get found in the map results in Winnipeg and in every regional centre you actually drive to.
-
Google Ads and Local Services Ads
Pay for Manitoba searches that become booked jobs, with budgets split by town rather than spread thin.
-
Reviews and reputation
An honest, steady flow of Google reviews from real customers, so small-town word of mouth shows up online.
-
Referral relationships
A tracked, written system for the builders, property managers and other trades who already send you work.
Local search: the base layer for every Manitoba trade
Local search should come first for almost every trade, because the map results are where urgent customers decide whom to call. It covers your Google Business Profile, the service and town pages on your website, and the consistency of your business details across the web.
In Winnipeg, local search is a competition for your part of the city. A profile verified in Transcona will struggle to appear for a search in Fort Richmond, so we build service pages and ads to reach the quadrants your profile can't. In a regional centre, the competition is thinner but the trading area is wider, so we focus on making it obvious which surrounding towns and rural municipalities you serve.

Google Ads: when you need calls this month
Google Ads is the fastest way to be seen, and the easiest way to waste money. Search ads and Local Services Ads put you at the top for specific searches, but only pay off when the budget is fenced to the towns you serve and the job types you want.
The Manitoba mistake we see most is one campaign covering "Manitoba" as a whole. That spreads budget across a province where most of the clicks come from Winnipeg, so a Brandon business ends up paying for Winnipeg searches it will never take. We split campaigns by city and job type, and we report cost per booked job, not cost per click.
Start here if: you need work in the next 30 to 60 days, or your season is short. See the Google Ads page.
Reviews: the closer in small-town Manitoba
Reviews decide the call once you are visible. A steady stream of honest reviews helps you rank, and it answers the question every customer asks before dialling: "Do people like this outfit?"
In a regional centre, reviews matter even more, because a single unhappy customer can reach a good share of your market through church, hockey and coffee-shop conversations. A visible, polite reply to a bad review is part of your reputation in town. We set up a plain, policy-compliant request process and help you write replies that sound like you.
Start here if: you have fewer reviews than the two or three competitors customers compare you with. Details are on the reviews page.
Referral relationships: the channel most trades never measure
Referral relationships are the work that already comes from builders, property managers, realtors, suppliers and other trades. Many Manitoba trades get a large share of their best jobs this way, yet very few track it.
We help you list your referral sources, track what each one sends, keep in regular contact, and thank people in ways that are appropriate and above board. We never sell leads, and we never sign you up to a paid network.
Start here if: you can name five people who regularly send you work, and you want more of it without paying for clicks. Read the referral relationships page and our referral partner playbook.
A quick way to choose
| Your situation | Start with | Add next |
|---|---|---|
| Winnipeg, emergency trade, few map appearances | Local search + Google Ads | Reviews |
| Regional centre, good reputation, thin online presence | Reviews + local search | Referral relationships |
| Builder-driven work (new homes, renovations) | Referral relationships | Local search |
| Short outdoor season, need spring bookings | Google Ads in late winter | Reviews from last season |
If you are unsure, the pricing page explains what each plan includes, and the contact page tells you what to send so the first conversation is useful. We are a marketing and consulting service, not a contractor, so every recommendation is about winning work, never about how to do it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need all four services?
Rarely at the start. Most Manitoba trades begin with one or two, chosen by where their work comes from today. The others are added once the first ones are measured and paying.
Which service is cheapest to start with?
Reviews and referral relationships cost the least in outside spend, because there is no ad budget behind them. Local search needs time more than money. Google Ads is the only one with a media budget on top of our fee.
Can you work with the website I already have?
Usually, yes. We review it first. If it can't take a call or a text cleanly on a phone, we will tell you plainly and show you what needs to change.
Do you run Facebook ads?
We can include social ads when the numbers support them, often for outdoor trades booking spring work. For urgent trades, search ads and local search almost always come first.
